The business and engineering communities are mourning the loss of Sepi Saidi, a pioneering entrepreneur and dedicated leader, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 62.
Sepi Saidi, an Iranian-American businesswoman, was a visionary in the engineering field, known for her ability to break barriers in a male-dominated industry. She founded Sepi Engineering & Construction, Inc. in 2001, growing it into a highly respected firm that played a significant role in shaping infrastructure across North Carolina and beyond. Her leadership and commitment to excellence earned her widespread recognition, including her 2022 induction into the NC Women Business Owners (NCWBO) Hall of Fame.
Born in Iran, Sepi moved to the United States as a teenager, settling in Raleigh, North Carolina. She attended North Carolina State University, earning degrees in Civil Engineering and Biological & Agricultural Engineering. Her passion for innovation and community development was evident throughout her career.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sepi was an advocate for mentorship and diversity in the workplace. She believed in empowering others, mentoring countless individuals who went on to lead successful careers in engineering and business.
Most recently, she served as Executive Vice President and Advisory Board Director at TranSystems, continuing her mission of shaping the future of engineering and infrastructure development.
Sepi’s impact extended beyond the business world. She was a beloved figure in the Raleigh community, known for her generosity, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to making a difference. She inspired many with her resilience, leadership, and grace, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to influence generations to come.
The NC Chamber and numerous colleagues have expressed their condolences, remembering Sepi as an approachable and thoughtful leader who championed people at every turn.
Sepi Saidi is survived by her family, friends, and a vast network of colleagues and mentees who will continue to honor her memory.
